The author having worked for an American manufacturing business that decided to adopt Japanese manufacturing principles, based upon the Toyota Production System (TPS), gained a unique insight into the different American and Japanese approaches to manufacturing. In fact the business also applied the American Six Sigma principles at the same time as applying TPS.
