Synopsis
At a time when politicians are coming under closer scrutiny than ever before, Nick Sinclair's portraits of prominent Parliamentarians seem particularly pertinent as he seeks out the men and women behind the public persona in this collection of full-face, larger-than-life close-ups. Sinclair's photographs make no concessions to conventional notions of decorum and are thus uncompromisingly confrontational and ruthlessly analytical. The result is a memorable group of portraits. Featured among the formidable line-up of 55 familiar faces are Tony Benn, Barbara Castle, Roy Hattersley, Denis Healey, Douglas Hurd, Neil Kinnock, Cecil Parkinson, Enoch Powell, Dennis Skinner and Norman Tebbit. Nick Sinclair is one of Britain's exciting and thoughtful young photographers. His work has been exhibited in Europe and the UK, and has appeared in numerous magazines including "The Telegraph", "BJP", "Creative Camera" and "People in Camera". Lord Deedes, immortalised as "Dear Bill" in "Private Eye", is a former editor of "The Daily Telegraph".
