Synopsis
A major study of the medieval town of Grantham in Lincolnshire; fifteen scholars here combine new studies of historical documents with new assessments of the town’s buildings and archaeology to characterise the medieval town and demonstrate its significance. From Neolithic ceremonial centre to prosperous late medieval wool-town, for the first time Grantham is here recognised as one of the more important medieval towns of the English midlands. The book contains many specially commissioned colour illustrations and several views of buildings and streets are published here for the first time: it is heavily illustrated and printed in colour on art paper throughout. The book has a bibliography and an index. This book was published by the Heritage Trust for Lincolnshire. It is now out of print, but Shaun Tyas, who purchased some copies to help with the distribution, has a few copies still available.
