A dictionary of ecology and the environment which has been totally revised and updated. The total wordlist has expanded with subsidiary words and expressions derived from them. All the words and expressions are defined in simple terms, and examples are given of how each word is used in context. The vocabulary covers a wide range of topics relating to ecology, climate, energy conservation, vegetation, human ecology, waste disposal, pollution and pollutants, the greenhouse effect and energy. Throughout the text encyclopaedic comments are given to expand on the definitions. Many quotations from British and American newspapers and magazines add to the definitions and comments, and also show the terms being used in "real life". The supplement at the back of the book has also been updated to include very recent major natural and man-made disasters."
