Dan Hale's sign career began at age 14, when he sold a sign to a grocery store in his hometown of Olean, New York. He attended the College of Sacramento, and worked as a sign designer, then briefly returned to his native state and opened a custom signshop. He returned to the West Coast to further learn the sign business, holding management positions with Los Angeles and Reno-based sign companies. In 1990, he returned to upstate New York and opened QRS Signs Inc. in Portville, where he remains today. Dan also offers consulting services, and has presented to the industry at international trade shows, regarding sign pricing. He has also contributed articles to Signs of the Times magazine, the world leader in sign information.
