Synopsis
The major reference work of the history of modern American illustration includes all the important illustrators, and representations of their work of the late 19th and complete 20th centuries. This volume acts as a complete course study of American Illustration and for this reason is a most valued tool for understanding the history of illustration in this country. Walt Reed, respected historian of American illustration, has done a masterful job of selecting the most appropriate images to represent each of the 450+ illustrators in this book. The artists appear in the decade in which their influence was most strongly felt. Included is a biographical sketch of each of the artists, setting forth all the facts needed to help in the understanding of the artists and their work.
