Synopsis
Much more than a record of an extraordinary military career, the life story of Colonel Sir Hugh Boustead details how he spent the greater part of his life in service to undeveloped countries. In addition to serving in wars in Sudan and Ethiopia, Colonel Boustead worked for many years to establish tribal peace, build schools and medical facilities, and train future leaders in the Western Sudan, Southern Arabia, and Abu Dhabi. All of these adventures are delightfully recounted in this memoir of a military man, a deserter, a boxing champion, and an explorer.

Colonel Sir Hugh Boustead represented Great Britain in the Olympics, explored the Western Desert, won the Army Lightweight boxing championship, and participated in the 1933 Everest expedition with Eric Shipton.
