Charles Cutter is a graduate of Yeshiva University, and Hunter College. He holds a MA in library science from Pratt Institute, and a PhD degree in history from Ohio State University, Columbus. From 1969 to 1976, he served as Judaica Librarian at Ohio State University Library. He served at the Brandeis University Library beginning in in 1976, as the head of the Judaica Department and later as Special Collections Librarian and University Archivist, before retiring in 2001. Charles Cutter was an active member of the Association of Jewish Libraries and the Council of Archives and Research Libraries in Jewish Studies. He served as Contributing Editor-Reference Department Judaica Librarianship, a publication of the Association of Judaica Librarians. He lectured and published on matters related to Judaica Librarianship.
