About the Author

Charles Hellman is both a storyteller and a writer. His book credits include a novel "Bogie: Golf as it Was," which deals with the lives of ancient golfers during the 18th Century in St. Andrews, Scotland. As a golf historian and he often lectures on cruise ships about golf. Mr. Hellman also has several short stories and articles to his credit. With years of strong draftsman skills, Robert Tiritilli helped create his outlandish style and talent of sports cartooning by dually employing representative portraiture, and cartoonish lightheartedness. This cartoonist sketched his original artwork very loosely but with intent, in blue pencil and then utilized very spontaneously applied, inked brushwork. Incorporating the pen and ink technique, he is able to suggest shading with well-placed, expressive line work. It is worth noting that most of Tiritilli's sports cartoons have no backgrounds. Clearly by only focusing on central players, Tiritilli is able to complete a cartoon in faster fashion, but his absence of background imagery also allows for cleaner, easier to distinguish, artwork. PhotoShop is used to enhance the drawings and In-Design was used to lay-out the pages of the book.
