About the Author

Laura Rose Ashlee has been with the Bureau of History since 1987. She became the coordinator of the state's historical marker program in 1988. As a member of the State Historic Preservation Office staff, she oversees the documentation and nomination of historic resources to the State Register of Historic Sites, and directs all aspects of the Michigan Historical Marker Program.
