Synopsis
In the fall of 1996, author and counsellor Douglas Bloch suffered an adverse reaction to an antidepressant that plummeted him into a major depressive episode. For the next ten months, he was assailed by out-of-control anxiety attacks which alternated with dark, suicidal depressions. Each day felt like an eternity, as he struggled to stay alive in the face of overwhelming feelings of hopelessness and despair. In this book, Douglas shares his struggle with, and ultimate recovery from, a life-threatening depressive illness. He offers a 'survival plan for living in hell' that he adopted until the power of spirit, acting through a group of committed, loving people, brought about his recovery.
