The text also describes the implementation of ORCA - a new language - on top of the Amoeba distributed operating system, and concludes with performance evaluation for several example programmes. A detailed case-study of a modern language is provided, together with references to nearly 100 languages, and a new model - the shared data object model - is introduced.
