Hardcover. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First Edition. 274 pages. A defense of Velikovsky's theories by a plasma physicist who was an editor of several Velikovsky-inspired journals. First edition (first printing). A fine copy in a fine dust jacket. This copy is from the Harvard office library of the paleontologist and leading advocate for evolution, Stephen Jay Gould. With a tipped in bookplate indicating the provenance. Gould wrote an essay in 1975 called Velikovsky in Collision, which was collected in Ever Since Darwin (1977). Gould, unlike many scientists, took Velikovsky seriously, but rebutted his claims, writing, 'Velikovsky was surely ill treated by certain academics who sought to suppress the publication of his work. But a man does not attain the status of Galileo merely because he is persecuted; he must also be right.' See also the book 'Stephen J. Gould and Immanuel Velikovsky' edited by Charles Ginenthal and the Gould entry in the online Velikovsky encyclopedia. Seller Inventory # 194853
