The group informally revolved around Michel de Klerk and included such figures as Piet Kramer, Johan van der Mey, Frits Staal, Margaret Kropholler, and Hendrik Wijdeveld. They believed that architecture should be artistic and expressive. As artists, they considered themselves to be clairvoyants who could reveal through architecture the essential "spirit of the time."
