This volume is a 'Collected Poems' by Ireland's leading late-modernist poet, who was also one of the founding editors of the seminal Dublin publishing house, New Writers' Press. It collects his Irish books Pentahedron. The Poems of Sweeny Peregrine, stone floods, Syzygy and Without Asylum plus a number of uncollected texts that have so far only seen the light of day in magazines, such as the important experimental text Trem Neul. Joyce is rapidly establishing a reputation as the most important and uncompromising current figure in the Irish modernist tradition, a worthy heir to Coffey, Devlin, MacGreevy and Beckett. With the first dream of fire...is Trevor Joyce's first UK publication.
