Autore e designer di A Tale of 12 Kitchens (2006), ha pubblicato le riviste d'arte Cipher (1979-1981) e Atlas (1985-1993), ha insegnato presso il dipartimento di Communication Design del Royal College of Art (1987-1999) e lavora anche come giornalista. Una mostra retrospettiva delle sue opere è stata allestita al Museo Internacional de Electrografia di Cuenca, in Spagna (1997), in parte finanziata dal British Council. È stato uno dei primi ad adottare il World Wide Web come mezzo per l'arte, utilizzando il suo sito web TheCooker (1994).
