Synopsis
This volume was first published in 1987. It is being reissued to celebrate R.S. Thomas' 80th birthday. The book brings together 24 poems from long out-of-print volumes and adds 14 previously uncollected, and largely unpublished, poems. Among them are Thomas' most provocative and outspoken statements about the Welsh language, Wales and its culturally imperialistic neighbour, England. These poems should be of interest to anyone who wants to understand what Wales means to Thomas and his work.
