Synopsis
Traditional Christian belief, firmly based on the divinity of Jesus, is now being challenged, by the discoveries of modern science and the research of biblical scholars. In this interpretation of the life of Jesus, Dr Schonfield argues that Jesus's belief that he was the Messiah meant everything to him, and that, master of his destiny, he directed his life and deliberately plotted his actions, which were to culminate in his crucifixion and resurrection, in order to fulfil the Messianic prophecies Dr Schonfield was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1959, and was one of the first scholars to work on the Dead Sea Scrolls.
