Synopsis
The heartrending true story of one of the most tragic of mountain misadventures. The 1957 expedition to Haramosh Peak in the Karakoram range in Pakistan is a tale in the same genre as "Touching the Void" - of an expedition that has gone terribly wrong. Two climbers in the party are avalanched into a snow basin at 20000 feet, two other climbers try to rescue them but get stuck themselves in the process. "The Last Blue Mountain" tells of three days and three nights without food or water as the climbers try and extricate one another from an icy grave. As told by Ralph Barker, it is an epic of human endeavour and fortitude.

About the Author
Ralph Barker is a non-fiction writer and journalist, a contributor for more than 30 years to the London Sunday Express. He has now written 30 books, of which "The Last Blue Mountain" was only his third. He still thinks it is his best, probably because of the memorable and contrasting characters of the climbers. His subjects range from aviation (in both world wars), the war at sea, biography, terrorism, and, for relaxation, to cricket.
