Seller: The Bark of the Beech Tree, Depoe Bay, OR, U.S.A.
Soft cover. Condition: Fine. Richard Shirley Smith (illustrator). 1st Edition. A collection of nine poems from Michael Riviere, some having first appeared elsewhere. This Norfolk native, who died in 1997, had an adventurous life, particularly during WWII when he escaped from several prison camps before being sent to Colditz. A pleasing booklet from Mandeville, with a wood engraving by Richard Shirley Smith on the title page. The edition was limited to 250 copies, this being from the main edition of 215 copies (35 were signed by the poet). 16 pages sewn into printed card wrappers. Several different colored cards were used for the covers, this copy being a mid-brown which looks very effective with the brown printing. A fine copy. MC. Seller Inventory # 001536
