Synopsis
This updated edition provides an organized survey of the topics which have been included under the name of hysteria and which are still of importance under the terms "conversion" and "dissociation". It offers an explanation of the concepts of hysteria and offers a critique of current concepts of repression. In addition, the book tackles the common modern problems of multiple personality disorder and memories of childhood sexual abuse recovered during therapy. The text is intended for psychiatrists, neurologists and doctors in general, as well as for clinical psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses and social workers.
