This collection of essays examines the place of science and technology in the cultures of Europe. Authors from 15 countries offer accounts which range from intensely personal histories to broad empirical studies, and look at projects from pan-European research programmes to local initiatives for children. Each contribution offers its own particular insights, and together they illuminate the coherence and diversity of the scientific and technological cultures of the evolving community of Europe. "Science and Culture in Europe" was published to mark the first European Week for Scientific Culture.
