Synopsis
In spite of the dramatic increase in the price of gold, its use in both decorative (e.g jewellery) and technical (mainly electronic) applications remains highly important. After a brief historical introduction, noting the many unique properties of gold, a four-part treatment is set out. a) electrolytes used b) plating techniques (tank, barrel, aerosol, jet etc) c) deposit properties and d) testing. The work concludes with a survey of both major and minor applications. Included is a CD-ROM abstract database, up to 2011, with ca. 4300 abstracts.
