About the Author

DENNIS CANTWELL is currently Joseph Campbell Professor of Child Psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, where he is also Director of Residency Training in Child Psychiatry. Dr. Cantwell is Coordinator of Professional Education in the Division of Mental Retardation and Child Psychiatry at the University of California and the Neuropsychiatric Institute in Los Angeles.

LORIAN BAKER is a psycholinguist with advanced training in psychology, linguistics, neuropsychology, and neurolinguistics. She is currently on the faculty at UCLA in the Department of Child Psychiatry. Her areas of expertise are infantile autism, developmental language disorders, and childhood language acquisition.
