Synopsis

Anyone whose pulse quickens when they hear talk of hatches, attractors, dubbing, and hackles will want to grab their fly tying gear and sit down with Southeastern Flies. Inside you'll find over 200 patterns for dry flies, nymphs, terrestrials, and others to help lure even the most finicky southeastern fish out of the water. Many of these patterns are traditional ones developed in the southeastern U.S. (a special chapter on Great Smoky Mountains flies focuses on their history and development) while other patterns were designed elsewhere. All have been proven highly effective on fish in the Southeast. Each chapter offers a brief history of the fly, step-by-step instructions, and suggestions on how best to take advantage of the fly's characteristics. Though written for the experienced fly tier, the extensive glossary and advice on equipment and materials will help the beginner and expert alike.
