Synopsis
As the title suggests, the paperback edition of this popular title is a comprehensive overview of Michelangelo's style and how that style influenced the generations of artists that followed. The drawings are from his Windsor Castle groups and are divided into nine sections. Sections one through five cover heads, subjects sacred and profane, pen drawings and chalk nudes. The final four sections examine studies after his sculptures and the influence of the Sistine Chapel, The Last Judgment and the Pauline Chapel. Biographies of the artists and a bibliography complete this impressive catalog.
