This package explores constructive economic models developed by researchers and shows how they can be solved using mathematical programming software packages such as GAMS, a fully functional version of the 2.25 Student Version being contained in this pack. Emphasis is placed on the economic interpretations of the results, not on the mathematical techniques needed to actually find the solutions. In this way it is possible to cover a large number of applications without requiring extensive mathematical or computational knowledge from the reader. Although a course taught from this book does require some familiarity with elementary calculus, no prior experience with either a personal computer or operations research is required.
