This guide is written to assist in the identification of plant pathogenic bacteria. Following the guide, most pathogens isolated from a diseased plant can be identified to the species or pathovar level by a few simple phenotypic tests. Most chapters also include material on molecular, serological, and automated commercial techniques for identification, and there are also appendices on these techniques as well. For this third edition, many nomenclatural changes have been made, and additional color photographs have been provided. The editors are affiliated with the Bacteriology Committee of The American Phytopathological Society. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
