About the Author

Bruce Bernstein is the Assistant Director for Cultural Resources at the National Museum of the American Indian, Smithsonian Institute and past Director and Chief Curator of the Museum of Indian Arts/Laboratory of Anthropology, the Museum of New Mexico. Bernstein also served as the Director of the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian. He has organised numerous exhibitions over the last twenty-five years and has published over fifty catalogues, articles, book sections and reviews including, most recently, "Sacred Illusions: A Collection of Zuni Pottery" and "Santa Fe Indian Market: A Story of Creation." He is currently working on a book, The Marketing of Cultures: Pottery and Santa Fe's Indian Market.
