Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 272pp, well illustrated in full colour. Undamaged brown cloth covered hard boards. Gilt text on spine and gilt design on front. Small folio. Dust jacket is immaculate barring a hint of shelf wear at head of spine and two small closed tears on rear at top. Minor sun fade on top of inside flaps. Tight, clear and bright. An attempt to make clear the history of painting by taking a common sense approach arguing the degree of seriousness and respectability to works of art that was never intended.
