The clinical impact of capillaroscopy has increased dramatically since the 1980s. The availability of video microscopy, computer-assisted image analysis, as well as the introduction of techniques for analyzing microvascular dynamics have opened up new and fascinating possibilities. These various applications are contributing to better diagnosis of Raynaud's phenomenon and diabetic microangiopathy. They permit adequate evaluation of peripheral ischemia or chronic venous insufficiency, and facilitate the diagnosis and classification of lymphedema. This volume describes the technique of conventional capillaroscopy in all accessible regions of the body, the various dynamic studies and the visualization of lymphatic capillaries.
