With their spirit of high adventure and roaring vivacity, Kipling's stories of the high green jungles of India will entertain children while cultivating their appreciation of nature The Jungle Books is a thrilling adventure, teeming with ferocious and exotic wild beasts, set in the lush green jungles of India. Mowgli, lost as an infant 'man cub' deep in the jungle, is reared by Akela the Wolf as one of her own. Stalked by Shere Khan, the villainous Bengal tiger, Mowgli runs with the wolf pack under the protection of Bagheera, the gruff but wise Panther, and Baloo the Bear, who teaches him the animal code of behaviour known as the Law of the Jungle. In a series of fantastic adventures, Mowgli survives the threats of both man and beast with his fast thinking and strength. This edition includes the complete, unedited texts of both Jungle Books, which include the entire collection of Mowgli tales along with other jungle stories of equal imagination and enchantment.
These timeless tales are presented in a contemporary yet classic design, with two-colour art throughout, 16 full-colour illustrations printed on glossy art stock, and rich ivory text pages, that will engage and excite the imaginations of today's children.Rudyard Kipling was born in Bombay in 1865.
