Synopsis
This is the fifth edition of "California: A History". From its inception, this book was designed for the general reader and students alike. Since its original publication the book has been enjoyed by many thousands of readers. As in prior editions, the aim of the book is to follow and recount the state's history from its origins to the present in a format that is engaging as well as informative. The volume focuses upon the implications of the recent population explosion as well as giving attention to the state's economy and the mix of modern cultures.
