Nancy R. Axelrod is a governance consultant who provides services to nonprofit organizations in board education, development, self-assessment, and leadership transitions. She frequently serves as a speaker at leadership forums dedicated to governance and accountability. Nancy has served as a governing and advisory board member and board development consultant to numerous associations, foundations, charitable organizations, higher education institutions, and other nonprofit organizations. She is a member of the faculty of the Institute for Board Chairs and Presidents of Independent Colleges and Universities, sponsored by the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, and ASAE & the Center for Association Leadership’s Exceptional Boards program. Nancy is the founding president of the National Center for Nonprofit Boards (now known as BoardSource), where she served as its first chief executive officer from 1987 to 1996.
