Synopsis
Golf: Steps to Success serves as a primary resource for golfers starting lessons or as a self-instruction guide. Either way, this progression of skills will help readers get started quickly, make steady progress, practise in performance contexts, and correct problems as they develop. In this book, 16 steps (chapters) explain why the concept or skill is important, identify the keys to correct technique, help golfers correct common errors, explain how to practise each skill in realistic ways, list specific performance goals for each drill, and provide checklists for evaluating proper technique. Teachers need both the participant's guide and the companion teacher's guide to teach effectively. Teaching Golf : Steps to Success follows the same skill progression as the participant's book and features management and safety guidelines, rating charts for identifying players' initial skill levels, drill modifications to fit various skill levels, teaching cues to maximize learning, suggestions for identifying and correcting common errors, and a complete test bank of written questions.

About the Author
DEDE OWENS Ed.D., is a teaching professional at Cog Hill Golf Club in Lemont, Illinois, a staff member of Callaway Golf Company, and a professional advisory staff member of Golf Digest. She is a two-time LPGA Teacher of the Year, national president of the LPGA Teaching Division, and was recently named one of golf's top one hundred teaching professionals by Golf Magazine. Dr. Owens has also published five other books on golf.
DAN KIRSCHENBAUM Ph.D., is director of the Center for Behavioral Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, and professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Northwestern University Medical School. He has published six other books and over a hundred articles in professional journals and books. He is also on the U.S. Olympic Committee's Sport Psychology Advisory Group and is past president of the sport psychology division of the American Psychological Association.
