Synopsis
The second edition of this text contains a collection of 12 tested experiments in molecular biology, developed at the Dolan DNA Learning Center of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, which culminate in the construction and cloning of a recombinant DNA molecule. Coverage also includes the completion of the draft sequence of the human genome and enormous impact these and other sequence data are having on medicine, agriculture and industry. The laboratory experiments cover basic techniques of gene isolation and analysis, explained sufficiently to be useful to teachers and students with no prior experience in the field. Prelab notes at the beginning of each experiment explain how to schedule and prepare, while flow charts and icons should make the protocols easy to follow.
