All in all, not a bad book
This is a pretty solid book, even if I do say so myself. From the title, you might get the impression that it's wispily devotional. But actually it's 366 short---very short---stories (one for each day of the year) about fatherhood. They're scenes, really; that's all. Rather than pound home a theological point or a moral lesson, they give glimpses into the lives of fathers. The idea was to give fathers a mirror in which to see those experiences they're undergoing day in and day out. Few of the meditations have any direct point. They tend, instead, to be open-ended. One final thing: The meditations (the stories) were written first. Then, even shorter scripture passages were found that, in some way, complemented or amplified what I had written. What this means is that the book is experience-driven, rather than scriputure-driven.
