Highly respected and used in the field's top programs, CURRENT PSYCHOTHERAPIES provides students of counseling, psychology, and social work with an authoritative treatment of the major systems of psychotherapy. Each contributor is either an originator or a leading proponent of one of the systems, and each presents the basic principles of the system in a clear and straightforward manner, discussing it in the context of the other systems.

"The reason for selecting the Corsini text is that it presents a broad overview of theories written by experts in their respective fields. It is almost like reading primary works; yet the theories are summarized in such a way that students can easily grasp the essential elements of each approach." "Once again, Corsini and Wedding have provided an up-to-date scholarly presentation of current psychotherapies. The integration of historical background, philosophical tenets, and case presentations will prove informative to both beginning students and seasoned clinicians. This edited volume provides a fine introduction to alternative models of psychotherapy. Kudos on a job well done!" "I describe this text to colleagues as a good way to initiate the beginning counselor/therapists to the array of psychotherapeutic theories by systematically exposing them to original sources. I maintain that this is a significant advantage over having the student read one author's "take" on numerous theories." "This book is a great resource and I strongly recommend it for use in psychotherapy courses. It's important for students to learn about the variety of psychotherapeutic approaches, even if they hope to master only one of them. This book enables students to compare approaches, within a coherent structure and in a fair and balanced manner." "CURRENT PSYCHOTHERAPIES, Seventh Edition makes an outstanding contribution to understanding major approaches to psychotherapy. It is the only textbook containing chapters written either on their own or with a collaborator by many of the approaches' originators: namely, Aaron Beck, Albert Ellis, Carl Rogers, Arnold Lazarus, Rollo May and Irvin Yalom. In addition other therapeutic approaches are presented by leading exponents. Each chapter contains a thoughtful and thorough presentation of the approach's theory and practice, including a case presentation. The book is a genuinely authoritative source and I recommend it most highly." "Any clinician, established or aspiring, will find that this volume significantly expands his or her repertoire of possible pathways to clinical understanding and intervention. Whether one is a devotee of a particular theoretical perspective or a practitioner who favors an integrative approach, one can not avoid being enriched by exposure to the wealth of ever-changing ideas and perspective on psychotherapy captured in this text."
