Synopsis
Serrato-Combe (architecture, U. of Utah) presents 55 architectural visualizations of the preconquest temple that was the center of Aztec ceremonial life before its destruction in 1521. Through text and computer-generated color imagery, he reveals how the Aztec organization of architectural spaces was influenced by the concept of divine visions that led to a unique system of beliefs. The series of isometric drawings and views of sections cut through buildings and open spaces shows how the Aztecs planned their ceremonial center and how it evolved from a scattering of mud and thatch huts to an impressive urban complex.
