From the Land of Sheba to the Court of Ghengis Khan, the past rings with the famous names of those "other ancients," who left their mark on the coin-age. This final installment in a celebrated series explores the far-flung and exotic corners of the ancient world and reveals the secrets essential to coin collecting success in a realm that some have wrongly assumed as "too complex." Ancient Coin Collecting VI changes that notion. Presented in an easy-to-use format consistent with the preceding five volumes, each culture features its own section, with associated maps, bibliography and illustrations. The result is a broad introduction to the topic, and a must-have desktop reference that students of ancient coinage will turn to time and time again. Journey to the lands of mystery on the fringe of classical culture. Explore the Dark Ages and find pearls of enlightenment. Witness the rise and fall of great dynasties. And, identify with confidence the treasures of the past. For the intrepid arm-chair explorer, the adventure is just beginning. For 30 years, Wayne G. Sayles has passionately pursued ancient coin' collecting. His interest in the hobby was kindled while living in Turkey and Greece, where he visited the storied archaeological sites of the ancient world and searched the colorful bazaars for numismatic treasures. Inspired by his experiences, Wayne pursued a career studying and educating others about ancient coins. He has a graduate degree in art history, specializing in ancient coins as works of art, and he has conducted hands-on research in several of the best collections in the world, including The British Museum in London and The National Museum in Athens. He is a trequent lecturer at international seminars, symposia and society. Wayne is the founding publisher of The Celator, the respected journal devoted to ancient coins. He has written more than 40 articles on ancient coins and co-authored, with William F. Spengler, the book Turkoman Figural Bronze Coins and Their Iconography. In addition, Wayne is the author of the previous five volumes in the Ancient Coin Collecting series, which were all published by Krause Publications. Seller Inventory # 202658
