**Peter Knapp** has worked in literacy education for many years. Over that time he has written a range of books, articles and teaching materials on teaching and assessing writing. He is currently Director of the Educational Testing Centre and Associate Professor at the School of Education, University of New South Wales. **Megan Watkins** is a Lecturer in Education at the University of Western Sydney. She has written a number of articles and curriculum materials on genre theory and literacy pedagogy.
