Synopsis

Explore new ways of prayer and storytelling through Torah in Motion. JoAnne Tucker and Susan Freeman, both experienced in dance and Judaic studies, tell the famous stories of the Torah through modern dance. In this book, they explain how they use dance to interpret Torah and creative ideas to consider when doing so. Dance Midrash offers a new and contemporary form of prayer and expression, uniting both young and old in dance and story.

Soft cover. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. Tom Brazil (illustrator). First Edition. "Torah in Motion" looks at a new genre of dance called Dance Midrash. The purpose of the new style is to enable the Torah to become more immediate and relevant. The goal is to allow the participants and audience members to make connections between the biblical text and its times and the modern reader. It is also hoped that the dance will be a significant aid in fostering retention of learning. The book takes a number of passages from the Torah and teaches dance movements relevant to the text. Included are photographs, appendices, and a bibliography. This copy is solid with underscoring on an introductory page. Seller Inventory # 004675
