About the Author

Dr. David Moyer is retired from the United States Navy Medical Corps. He served for eight years as the Navy Surgeon General's designated advisor on tobacco and health issues. After his military medical career, Dr. Moyer served as an allergist and associate clinical professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, and chief of the allergy diseases department at the Permanente Medical Group in Oakland, California. Dr. Moyer earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and his M.D. at Yale University Medical School.
