About the Author

Mary D. Sheridan carried out pioneering work in the field of community paediatrics for over 40 years. Her publications include Spontaneous Play in Early Childhood: From Birth to Six Years (1977, Routledge: London).
Marion Frost is Senior Lecturer in Health Studies at Brunel University. Dr Ajay Sharma is Consultant Community Paediatrician at the Wilfrid Sheldon Child Development Centre, London.
