Synopsis
The cost benefits of using simulation in the planning, operation and design of factories are widely accepted. Simulation software tools have changed from special purpose programming languages to interactive PC systems, which allow simulation modellers to speak in manufacturing rather than computer terms. The interactive system AIM is used for many of the examples in this book. The book gives a balanced account of the various skills which the practising simulation analyst must possess for successful modelling. As well as modelling itself, these include aspects of statistics, queueing theory and experimentation to which suitable references for further study are given.
