Synopsis
This book describes the derivation of an electrical model for printed circuit boards (in the form of an equivalent circuit), which can be used in conjunction with circuit simulators to determine how the PCB affects the performance of the circuit built on it. These techniques have also been applied to monolithic microwave integrated circuiits (MMICs), and could be extended to model other structures (such as silicon ICs). Several examples are presented to show the efficiency and accuracy of the method, and its application to very complex layouts. Computer programs, which illustrate the practical application of the methods described, are listed in the book and are also available from the author on disk. For postgraduate students working in computational electromagnetics, as well as practising scientists and engineers. The book combines a fairly rigorous theoretical explanation of the method with a detailed examination of its practical implementation, particular attention being given to making simulations as efficient as possible.
