Synopsis
Written with the aim of encouraging the art of observation, this book presents the needs of plants and animals in relation to the environment. The text is complemented with specially commissioned paintings and quotations from well-known naturalists to portray "life's happenings" on the seashore and in the countryside in spring, summer, autumn and winter. At the end of each section the author gives ideas and notes on how to go about observing and interpreting the countryside. Leslie Jackman is presenter for the BBC "Out of Doors "programme.
