Frog is not content to be just a plain green frog, he wants to do the things his friends can do. He tries to fly like Duck, to bake cakes like Pig and to read like Hare. But all his attempts are doomed to failure, and Frog is disconsolate, until Hare points out that his friends love him just the way he is. About the Author
Max Velthuijs was born in The Hague in 1923. He is now one of Holland's most important creators of children's books, alongside Dick Bruna. He has won several awards, including the Hans Christian Andersen medal. He worked as an illustrator of posters, adverts and films after the war and then started working on children's books in the 1980s. He lives in The Hague with his son.
