Synopsis

This was originally written by David Beazley, former Head Ranger of Exmoor National Park Authority, and published in 1979 by Frederick Warne as Walks for Motorsits. From 1990 it has been published under its present title and has been continually revised and updated by staff and volunteers of Exmoor National Park Authority. The fact that this is the 7th edition shows how popular this book has become. It's aim is to tempt you to leave your car for between one and four hours or take one of the local bus services, to sample the tranquillity and natural beauty which are special qualities of the National Park. Although there are spectacular views to be had from the roads, visitors often wonder what is behind the beech hedgebanks that line them. Here is your chance to find out and to enjoy the wildlife and peace that can only be found by leaving the car behind. The thirty walks are all circular, vary from 2 to 8 miles in length and cover most parts of the National Park.
