A considerable variety of AC stock, both locomotives and EMUs, have seen service over the past 50 years. With the final survivors of the first generation of AC Electric Locomotives, the Classes 86 and 87, now coming to the end of their operational career and with most early EMU designs also now consigned to history, this is a good time to produce a pictorial historical retrospective of the AC Electric stock employed over this period the book includes some 200 mono and colour illustrations recording the evolution of the AC Locomotive and EMU fleet since the late 1950s. The principle AC routes in the country are the East and West Coast Main Lines with their associated loops and braches in the West Midlands, Yorkshire and Scotland and the lines through East Anglia from London to Norwich and Kings Lynn.
